Overview

A leading international consortium is developing one of Western Europe’s largest solar and battery energy storage projects. The initiative combines around 1 GWp of photovoltaic capacity with more than 2 GWh of storage, creating a benchmark for large-scale integrated renewable systems.

Challenge

The client needed a partner with deep technical expertise to define the most efficient and scalable configuration for both PV and BESS. The goal was to ensure optimal system performance, bankability, and replicability across several planned sites.

Our Role

Green Energy Venture supported the project from early concept development through detailed design.
Key activities included:

• Optimisation of the PV plant layout, including comparison between fixed and tracker systems.
• Benchmarking and selection of BESS technologies based on qualitative and quantitative analysis.
• Advisory on operations and maintenance, introducing efficient, low-footprint solutions such as automated panel cleaning systems.

Outcome

The project was delivered with a validated technical and financial foundation, enabling the client to scale a robust PV + BESS model across multiple locations in Western Europe.
